By Candace Wittrock
MAD Industries has built many show-winning vehicles in the past. But their recent build of a 2013 F-150, showcases the blend of performance with modern truck accessories at the highest level. Needless to say, this revamped truck with its six-speed automatic transmission and 3.73 electronic lock rear axle was customized to please the eye.
The first thing you notice is the brilliant black paint, which is BASF Jet Black and Tri-Coat Black with a Pure White Contrast graphic. To further accentuate the appearance, the truck sits pretty on custom Niche Laguna wheels and Ultimate All-Season Sport tires. The wheels were custom finished with a brushed lip and measure 23×9 in the front and 24×12.5 in the rear. The truck’s bed has been sprayed with a Line-X Platinum bed protection, while a new Leer Trilogy tonneau cover sits on the top to provide a low-profile fit that matches the truck’s exterior appearance.
MAD replaced the factory headlights and replacing them with Light Wurks Custom Headlights with a matte black finish. They also installed an Orion RR daytime running light system with tinted reflectors, and swapped out the factory F-10 taillights for a set from a Ford Raptor.
Further body enhancements were done by simply adding 3dCarbon Custom Polyurethane hood scoops, and swapped out the original wipers with PIAA Aero Vogue wiper blades to complete that custom look.
With a Whipple Industries Twin-series 2.9 supercharger and 3.375 pulley producing 8psi of boost, the 6.2L V8 engine creates 675 horsepower. The driveability is enhanced with a Tune Logics custom performance calibrations, Ford racing 4V colder spark plug set, Bank IQ man-machine interface, Ford Racing 47-lb/hr fuel injectors, and a Gibson stainless steel exhaust system that has been ceramic-coated black with duel tips.
The lowered stance of the F-150 was done by adding Belltech adjustable lowering struts in the front with a four inch flip-kit with street performance shocks in the rear. In addition a Firestone’s Ride Rite Air Helper Kit with a remote wireless controller is used for when the truck hauls heavy loads.
MAD also added Mag HiTech aluminum differentials for added gear oil capacity and cooling, and Wilwood’s TC series Forged aluminum six-piston calipers that sit over 16-inch diameter rotors.
Inside the F-150’s cab the upholstery uses Jet Black Pecca leather seats made by Coverking Custom Seat Covers that feature gray contrast stitching and white perforated leather inserts. The center console was also upholstered to match as are the DSV Customs custom covered OEM steering wheel and shift knob. Alcantara Covered Custom Interior manufactured the headliner, pillers, and rear wall in the crewcab with leather to match MAD Industries vision. Interwest Distribution Company Supplied the 3M Window Crystalline window tint to keep the truck dark, SRP Racing Pedals Billet manufactured the aluminum clear anodized racing pedals, and where there is a seat, there is a Lloyds Custom floor mat.
While the interior couldn’t look any better, MAD enhanced it further with a Rosen Electronics Tablet AV1900 Headrest entertainment system, Hi-Res LCD with Captive Touch Controls, and Padholdr i-Fit Holder with Medium Duty Base. A Rockford Fosgate Sound System was also added, featuring a Punch Series PBR300X1 amplifier, Punch three-way full-range speakers and Punch P3SD2 10-inch Subwoofer.
Despite all the accessories, the truck to be rugged, classy, and provide a customized look that’s guaranteed to please. With a motto of “go big or go home” MAD definitely shows how adding the right components and accessories to a stock truck can make a big impression.
